The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has inspected the Customs Training College, Goron Dutse, Kano, as part of preparations by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for the commencement of the 2025/2026 Recruitment Training Programme.
Adeniyi conducted the inspection on Saturday, 29 August 2026, to assess the readiness of the training institution ahead of the arrival of newly recruited personnel. The visit focused on the condition of the College’s facilities, ongoing projects, logistics and other requirements necessary to accommodate and train the incoming recruits effectively.
The Comptroller-General was received at the College by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Nsikan Umoh; Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit Zone B, Aminu Sule; Commandant of the Customs Training College, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Umar Atiku; alongside other principal officers and heads of units.
During the inspection, Adeniyi reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to providing the facilities, logistics and conducive learning environment required for effective training and capacity development of the new recruits.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring that the Customs Training College is adequately equipped to deliver professional, comprehensive and effective basic training that would prepare the recruits for the responsibilities and demands of service within the NCS.
According to him, the quality of training provided to newly recruited officers remains critical to strengthening professionalism, discipline and operational effectiveness within the Service. He therefore stressed the need for all necessary arrangements to be put in place before the recruits commence their training.
The Commandant of the College, Deputy Comptroller Umar Atiku, briefed the Comptroller-General on the institution’s activities, ongoing developments and the preparations being undertaken ahead of the arrival of the recruits.
Following the briefing, Adeniyi toured various facilities within the College to personally assess their state of readiness and identify areas requiring attention as the Service finalises arrangements for the training programme.
The inspection underscores the NCS leadership’s focus on strengthening its human-capital development framework through structured training and improved facilities for personnel entering the Service.
