Oilfield services firm recognised for contribution to Nigeria’s indigenous oil and gas industry, human capital development

Geoplex Drillteq Limited, a leading indigenous oilfield services company, has been honoured with the 2026 Indigenous Service Company Award by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN).
The award was presented during an OGTAN conference held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State, where industry professionals, oil and gas service companies, trainers and other stakeholders gathered to deliberate on human capital development and the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The conference, themed “Empowering People. Driving Performance. Shaping the Future of the Oil & Gas,” also recognised energy professionals, trainers and organisations considered to have made significant contributions to the development of human capacity in the sector.
OGTAN President, Engr. Chris Osarunmewense, commended Geoplex Drillteq for its commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria’s indigenous oilfield services industry, noting the company’s contribution to strengthening local technical capabilities.
Geoplex Drillteq has operated in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa for more than two decades and has established itself as one of the region’s fast-growing indigenous oilfield services providers.
Under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, the company has continued to expand its operations and technical capabilities in the oil and gas industry. It holds the American Petroleum Institute (API) Q2 certification, a recognised industry standard focused on quality management and operational excellence in the provision of oilfield services.
The company provides integrated and turnkey solutions across the upstream and midstream segments of the oil and gas industry, supported by its owned equipment assets.

Speaking at the event, Osarunmewense said the conference represented the first in a series of engagements designed to explore practical ways of sustaining and developing the workforce required to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
He said the gathering offered stakeholders an opportunity to move beyond their individual organisational and professional responsibilities to focus on a shared interest: the people who drive Nigeria’s energy industry and the capabilities needed to position the sector for the future.
The OGTAN president used the game of golf as a metaphor for human capital development, stressing that success requires preparation, discipline, concentration, patience, strategy and continuous improvement.
According to him, success is not necessarily achieved through one perfect performance, but through consistently making sound decisions, learning from mistakes and continuously improving.
He congratulated the participants and recipients of the awards, noting that their participation had helped strengthen relationships and build the professional community supporting the conference.
Osarunmewense also highlighted the significance of holding the event in Warri, describing the city as an important part of the history of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
He noted that the Niger Delta had remained at the heart of Nigeria’s petroleum industry for decades, with the region’s history closely connected to petroleum exploration and production, processing, oilfield services, technical manpower development and community development.
He described Warri as an important intersection of industry, technical capability, communities, institutions and human capital, making it an appropriate location for discussions on the future of Nigeria’s energy workforce.
The recognition of Geoplex Drillteq comes at a time when stakeholders across Nigeria’s oil and gas industry are increasingly emphasising indigenous participation, technical capacity development and the need to strengthen local service companies capable of providing world-class solutions to the sector.
The award therefore underscores the growing role of indigenous oilfield services companies in supporting Nigeria’s energy industry while developing the technical expertise and human capital required to sustain the sector.
