The All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold the grand finale of its campaign for the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election on Thursday, August 13, in Osogbo, the state capital, while the Accord Party has cancelled its planned final campaign rally in the city.
The APC campaign finale is scheduled to take place at Freedom Park, Osogbo, from 11:00 a.m., according to an invitation issued by the National Media and Publicity Sub-Committee for the APC Osun State Governorship Election.
The party called on its leaders, members, supporters and other stakeholders to attend the rally as it rounds off its campaign ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The campaign is being conducted under the leadership of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, while the National Media and Publicity Sub-Committee is chaired by the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule.
The grand finale is expected to provide the APC with an opportunity to mobilise its supporters, reinforce its campaign messages and make a final push for votes before the commencement of the election.
The announcement comes as political parties intensify preparations for the governorship poll, with major contenders seeking to consolidate their support across the state before the electoral process enters its final stage.
In a related development, the Accord Party has cancelled its planned final campaign rally in Osogbo.
Although the party has not publicly disclosed the reason for the cancellation, an anonymous source who spoke with Solaremnews said the decision was taken to avoid a situation in which the party’s supporters could be arrested.
The source did not provide details of the alleged threat or identify any security agency purportedly involved in such a development.
Efforts by Solaremnews to obtain further clarification from the Accord Party were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Attempts were also made by Solaremnews to reach Governor Ademola Adeleke’s media aide for clarification on the cancellation, but efforts to contact him by telephone were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
The cancellation of the Accord campaign finale comes as political parties enter the final phase of mobilisation ahead of Saturday’s election, which has attracted considerable political attention across Osun State.
With the APC now scheduled to hold its grand finale on Thursday, political parties and their supporters are expected to focus increasingly on voter mobilisation, engagement and compliance with electoral guidelines as the state prepares for the August 15 poll.
The election will determine who governs Osun State for the next four years, making the final days of the campaign particularly significant for the participating political parties and their candidates.
